Bolton makes the call for I-State

Iowa State might have wrapped up its 2017 offensive line recruiting Wednesday with a verbal commitment from Roswell (Ga.) Blessed Trinity tackle Jacob Bolton.

The 6-foot-6, 305-pound Bolton tweeted his commitment announced Wednesday afternoon, culminating a four-month Cyclone push to get him following a mid-September scholarship offer. Bolton officially visited Iowa State in December.

Bolton is rated as a three-star prospect by Rivals.com. He's the 22nd known commitment for the I-State Class of 2017 and his pledge put the Cyclones at No. 42 in the Rivals.com team recruiting rankings as of Wednesday night.

In addition to Bolton, ISU also has traditional O-line verbal commitments from Robert Hudson (Walled Lake, Mich.), Alex Kleinow (Iowa City, Iowa), Jeff Nogaj (Johnstown, Ohio) and Colin Newell (Ames, Iowa). In addition, the Cyclones are expecting Dave Dawson to join the program as a grad transfer from Michigan.

Iowa State also remains in the mix for another grad transfer, Khaliel Rodgers from USC.

Maryland and Ole Miss were other Power 5 offers claimed by Bolton. He also had Group of 5 offers from Arkansas State, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Southern Miss, UTSA, Troy and Tulane.

Bolton received a number of his early offers following an impressive sophomore season in 2014. He missed his junior campaign in high school due to a broken arm but then came back strong as a senior in 2016.
