Aussie import visits Iowa State, draws Cyclone offer

Iowa State's first-year coaching staff has shown the knack for being able to recruit all areas of the country. That includes northern California, where the Cyclones recently offered a foreign exchange student from Australia.

It’s been a whirlwind recruiting process for Kentfield Marin Catholic’s Sebastian Olver, a former rugby player from Australia, who recently took a trip to Iowa State and liked what he saw.

The 6-foot-4, 248-pound junior has gotten off to a remarkable start at the high school level, given he's played just one season of football.

Olver excelled mostly as a defensive end in his junior season at Marin Catholic, although he got a brief cameo at tight end in the stretch run and ended up with six catches for 160 yards and three touchdowns.

For more on Olver's recruitment and how ISU stacks up at this stage of the process, check out a more-detailed story on the ISU Confidential message board.
