And Carr Makes Three; ISU Names Fall Signees

The Iowa State men's basketball team has signed three players to letters of intent during the fall early signing period, ISU head coach Wayne Morgan announced Tuesday.

Rahshon Clark, Tasheed Carr and Aaron Agnew will begin their freshman seasons at ISU in the fall of 2004.

"At this point, my staff and I are extremely pleased with the young men we have had the opportunity to sign," Morgan said. "Being able to sign two wings with the departure of Marcus Jefferson at the end of the season gives us a great deal of relief at that position.

There is no question that Aaron Agnew, with his size, power and strength, gives our program a different and unique dimension," he added. "Tasheed Carr is a highly-skilled player who can play many positions. Rahshon Clark is absolutely one of the very best athletes in the country at his position. We feel all three young men have very bright futures and will ultimately make great contributions to our program."

Queens, N.Y. (Beach Channel/Bridgeton Academy [Maine])

High School: An athletic swingman who is a strong rebounder with excellent leaping ability...raised his stock this summer while improving his perimeter game, showing he can play the three...one of the best dunkers in the class of 2004...currently rated No. 80 nationally according to RivalsHoops...competed last season at Beach Channel in Queens, earning Queens Player of the Year honors after averaging 24.8 points and 11.7 rebounds...also averaged 4.2 blocks per game...a second-team all-New York City pick...competing this season at Bridgeton Academy in Maine...played for the Long Island Panthers on the AAU circuit and played in the Adidas ABCD camp...also recruited by St. John's, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Kent State.

Tasheed Carr

G, 6-5, 215, Freshman

Philadelphia, Pa. (University/Mt. Zion Christian Academy)

High School: A penetrating, physical guard, Carr plays for one of the best prep schools in the nation at Mt. Zion Christian Academy...a combo guard who can play point or the two...averaged 15.1 points, four rebounds and three assists last season at Mt. Zion, a team that finished with a 28-5 record...had a career-high 28 points vs. Ryan Academy and a career-best 14 assists vs. Coastal Christian...played for the Hunting Park Warriors in AAU competition in the summer of 2003, helping the team to a pair of tournament titles...averaged 16.1 points in summer AAU ball...rated No. 185 in the country by PrepStars...chose Iowa State over Virginia Tech, Ohio State, Temple and LaSalle.

C, 6-9, 330, Freshman

Bellaire, Ohio (Bellaire)

High School: A big-bodied post with excellent hands and post moves...averaged 22.1 points, 14.3 rebounds and 8.2 blocks per game as a junior...Sporting News ranked him as the 10th-best player in Ohio...Athlon's rated him as the 18th-best center in the nation...a first-team all-district, all-conference and all-valley selection...earned second-team all-state honors...squad went 18-5 and won the conference and sectional championship as a junior...team was also ranked No. 8 in the state...played for the Michigan Hurricanes in AAU tournaments...had an outstanding summer in the AAU circuit...his AAU teammates include: Roy Bright (Cincinnati), Goran Sutton (Michigan State), Jason Horton (Missouri) and Eric Devendorf (Michigan State)...coached in high school by Gene Ammirante...chose Iowa State over Duquesne, USC and Florida State.
