4-star surprise

Iowa State has scored one of the biggest coups of National Signing Day, getting a written commitment from four-star wide receiver Sedrick Johnson. The Arp (Tex.) star was verbally committed to Texas A&M and, even though he visited ISU and TCU in recent weeks, was still expected to sign with the Aggies.
But Iowa State stayed involved with the 6-foot-4, 200-pounder, a member of the Rivals250 for 2008. After deliberating over his decision all morning, Johnson finally faxed his letter of intent and financial aid paperwork to ISU just before noon.
