2017 commit hits Cyclone practice

In-state offensive line commit Alex Kleinow made the trip to Ames last weekend during the early stages of preseason camp and said he came away impressed with how first-year head coach Matt Campbell is running things.

The 6-foot-6, 280-pound Iowa City West standout is a three-star prospect by Rivals and also had FBS offers from Buffalo, Colorado State and Toledo at the time of his commitment.

Kleinow had previously been on campus in late-June for a team barbeque, was offered a scholarship from the new coaching staff and committed on the spot. He said his latest stop in Ames only convinced him further that he made the correct choice.

The in-state big man said he plans to be at every home game this season with the exception of the Thursday night Oklahoma game on November 3rd. He's also decided on a date for his official visit during the fall.
