Carolina drafts Klein in 5th round

The NFL Draft ice was broken for Iowa State players on Saturday afternoon when the Carolina Panthers selected linebacker A.J. Klein.

Klein was the 148th player chosen overall in the draft when Carolina selected him with the 15th pick of the fifth round. The Kimberly, Wisconsin, native was the first of several hopeful ISU players picked in the draft. No Cyclones were chosen on the first two nights of the draft, encompassing three rounds.

Jake Knott, Jake McDonough and Josh Lenz are other Iowa State players still to be chosen in the draft's final three rounds. If not, each would then be free to accept a free agent contract offer from any team.
