Iowa State women whip Oklahoma

Hallie Christofferson equalled a career high with 24 points and Nikki Moody posted her third double-double of the season as No. 24 Iowa State (13-2 overall, 4-1 Big 12) beat No. 14 Oklahoma (14-3 overall, 4-1 Big 12) 82-61 Tuesday in Hilton Coliseum.

The Cyclone victory was managed deftly by the point guard Moody. Moody choreographed one of Iowa State's best performances this season, with 20 points, 13 assists, four rebounds and a pair of steals while confounding the Sooners, who lost for the third straight season in Hilton. The game was Moody's third double-double this season.

The win equalled Iowa State's second-biggest-ever victory over Oklahoma, an 81-60 win on Jan. 2, 1999 in Norman.

Iowa State came out shooting to start the second half with a 13-2 run that included a pair of threes by Kidd Blaskowsky and one by Moody for a 47-32 advantage with 16:45 left in the game. Blaskowsky ended the game with 17 points. Oklahoma cut the Cyclone lead to 49-41 with 14:31 to go. A three by Christofferson ended an 8-0 counter surge by the Iowa Staters and created a 57-41 Cyclone lead with 11:05 left. Oklahoma never got closer than 10 points the rest of the way.

Iowa State's 13-2 start is its best since the 2008-09 season. The Cyclones are 4-1 in Big 12 play for the first time since the 2004-2005 campaign. Iowa State controlled the boards, with a 47-27 advantage in rebounding. Sharane Campbell led OU with 19 points. Cyclone defenders held the Sooners to a season-low 31.7 percent shooting night (27-58).

Iowa State got out to a 6-0 start as Oklahoma didn't score until a three by Morgan Hook with 14:48 left in the first half. OU fought back to tie the score 6-6. The Cyclones were able to get out to a 13-8 advantage with 11:29 left on a basket by Chelsea Poppens. Iowa State then held Oklahoma at bay and led by nine on a pair of free throws by Christofferson with 7.6 seconds remaining.

Portia Durrett hit a three from the top of the key at the buzzer to cut the Cyclone lead to 34-28 at the break. Iowa State outscored Oklahoma 18-4 in the paint in the first half.

Iowa State plays at No. 17 Oklahoma State, Sunday at noon CST on Fox Sports Net.
