St. John Ready to Join Sooners Growing OT Tradition
The Sooners have had a strong history of sending offensive lineman to the NFL and during head coach Bob Stoops tenure that list is only continuing to grow. This year it was Lane Johnson who was drafted No. 4 overall to the Philadelphia Eagles last Thursday. Just three years prior in the 2010 NFL Draft former Sooner offensive tackle Trent Williams was also drafted No. 4 overall to the Washington Redskins.
2013 three-star offensive tackle signee, Josiah St. John of Athens (Texas) Trinity Valley C.C. felt pretty good after seeing Johnson not only get drafted but also going so early in the draft.
"It made me feel pretty good, I won't lie to you," St. John began. " Seeing a fellow JUCO kid, for me to come in and play the same position that he played and he had the chance to go in the first round to play profession football, it made me feel like they (Oklahoma) know exactly what to do to put us in the situation to achieve our goals. I was just really happy to see that he not only went in the first round but in the top five."
