Kravish impressed by his official to Iowa

Academics are important to David Kravish and on his official visit this past weekend to the University of Iowa, they were front and center in the Hawkeyes pitch to the 6-foot-10 frontcourt prospect. Kravish, who hopes to someday become a doctor, spent most of his first full day on campus at the University of Iowa medical school and came away very impressed.

"On Friday they showed us around campus and they set up a lot of stuff for me at the medical school, which was huge. They had someone show me around the hospital and they set me up with a doctor who took me in to watch an ACL surgery, which was really cool," Kravish said.

Then on Saturday the emphasis switch to basketball with a little football mixed in for the Lee Summit, MO native, who is part of the Class of 2011. It was the first college football game for Kravish and he loved hearing from the Iowa fans around campus.

"Saturday we went over to the arena and watched the team scrimmage and after that we went over to the football game. That was the first college football game that I had been to and it was cool to walk around on the field. Some of the fans knew who I was and they were yelling, "David, come to Iowa!" The crowd and the environment there was just crazy. You could really tell that Iowa fans cared about their team."

After watching the Hawkeyes defeat Eastern Illinois, Kravish went back to Carver-Hawkeye Arena and shot around for a bit before going over with the entire Iowa basketball team to Coach McCaffery's home for dinner.

One thing that Kravish took away from his visit that may have impressed him the most was the sincere attitude he felt from the Iowa coaches in their approach to recruiting him.

"Every time I talk to the coaches, I can tell that they are being honest and sincere with me. That is a really good feeling and I am getting some good vibes from the coaches and the players," he said. "He (Coach McCaffery) also puts an emphasis on academics and getting my degree, which is important to me."

Kravish has two more official visits to make before he makes his college choice. He will be visiting Cal on September 24th and then Colorado on October 2nd.

"I'm going to make those two visits and then I plan to make my college choice shortly after returning from the Colorado visit."
